Victor Sommer is 8 years old. He has inherited his musical talent from his father’s family. His grandmother was reported in the press as a piano
prodigy, his grandfather used to dance and sing in the “Mazowsze” group and he graduated with honors from music school, class of percussion.
Victor’s father plays the cello and also used to be described as an extremely talented child.
The boy is a student of Grażyna Bacewicz’s Public School of Music in Koszalin. Victor practices under the guidance of prof. Aleksander Murawski from St. Petersburg. He started playing the grand piano at the age of 6. His first lessons Victor received from the local teachers in his hometown Kołobrzeg, then he worked with his father until he was noticed by prof. Aleksander Murawski.
Victor took part in the first Polish edition of the TV talent show “Must be the music”. The boy performed Chopin’s B-dur Mazurka just after four months of regular practice. After 19 months of playing the piano Victor took part in the 12th International Piano Competition in Munich (Klavierpodium der Jugend) which attracts the most talented young performers from all over the world. Victor was awarded the main prize (Media - preis) in the children under 8 category. Victor was also invited for an audition to Royal Academy of Music in London. It is a great honor and a memorable achievement due to the fact that the Academy is one of the most prestigious music schools in the world.
